An aged wine is nothing without the support from the cork acting as a gatekeeper blocking oxygen from getting in. It is our duty as the gatekeeper for our elders to make sure they are getting the best nutrition, guidance, and advise. We want to give back and assist elders and what better way to do that than by giving them opportunity to see their grandchildren grow. While, living in heat can take a toll on anyone no matter the age, it is more fatal in our elders. Heat, especially the unforgiving heat in Arizona, causes stress, and discomfort. To alleviate the stress and provide more comfort suggest and assist elders with a cold shower or bath.
One way to give back to the generation that gave us everything we have today is to return the favor by caring for them, and educating them. You may be thinking, what could I possibly teach someone that has lived a long, full life that taught me all I know? You play a huge role in their health and success by checking up on them as they did to us when we were young-ins. Simple tasks like taking them to and from doctor appointments and check ups. Go the extra mile and tint your car windows to help avoid the sun blazing down and causing further discomfort. Assist elders by ensuring there is AC, access to a fan, and easy access to a cool place with an abundance of water.
Educate yourself so you make informed decisions for the ones you care for on proper foods like veggies and fruit that help clear toxins circulating in our bodies and plaque build up which leads to clogged arteries. Oversee and manage meals that provide whole grains verses processed TV dinners. Assist elders by researching their finances so you know they are not being taken advantage of. Review their medical records so you know the best way to get them what is needed. Inquire about discounts to help with the cost of medical bills, visits, and prescriptions.
